Background & Objectives
The EU and Indonesia have a crucial opportunity to deepen their relationship. A supportive environment in Indonesia, where the EU is seen as a strong partner across sectors, is essential for enhancing political ties and maximizing economic opportunities. The EU Policy and Outreach Partnership Indonesia aims to capitalize on growing interest in the EU and address awareness gaps, supporting EU foreign policy goals through enhanced engagement and understanding.
Activities
EUPOP Indonesia will consist of 4 main components:
- Policy outreach and advocacy, including events, roadshows, training for policymakers and media, and business engagements.
- Youth engagement, featuring public lectures, student debates, competitions, European Higher Education Fairs, Model EU, and an Interversity Debate Championship.
- Cultural diplomacy, supporting cultural events and EU flagship events in Indonesia.
- Cross-cutting activities, including a perception study and communication activities to enhance awareness and understanding of the EU in Indonesia.
Results
The project aims to achieve three key results:
- Building an EU-favorable and EU-attentive community in Indonesia through activated platforms for discussions and policy debates.
- Consolidating awareness and understanding of the EU, its policies, values, and core principles among the local community.
- Promoting the EU’s role as a credible and strong partner for Indonesia, particularly in areas such as human rights, democracy, global economics, and tackling global challenges like security, energy, and climate change.
