Background & Objectives
- Pacific Aid-for-Trade Strategy (PAfTS): Identifies E-commerce as a key priority to reduce trade costs and enhance economic diversification across Pacific Island Countries (FICs).
- Pacific E-commerce Initiative: Launched in 2018 to harness E-commerce’s potential, culminating in a regional strategy and roadmap. Implementation since 2022 focuses on 54 priority actions across the Pacific.
- E-Commerce Acceleration Program: Managed by PIFS to drive implementation of the regional strategy, fostering E-commerce growth and development in the Pacific.
Activities
PIFS E-commerce Toolkits Development:
- Conduct online consultations in Niue, Tonga, and Vanuatu to identify priority sectors.
- Establish industry reference groups and produce, refine, translate, and design toolkits.
Promotion and Outreach:
- Develop an Outreach Plan and social media content for the E-commerce Toolkit Program.
- Create brochures and a promotional video highlighting program benefits and objectives.
Community of Practice and Training:
- Develop guidelines and training materials tailored for Niue and Tonga.
- Deliver in-person training workshops and create online training resources for the Pacific E-commerce Portal.
Results
Toolkits Development:
- Develop and translate two toolkits for Niue and three for Tonga.
- Update and translate three existing toolkits for Vanuatu in Bislama and French.
Outreach and Promotion:
- Develop an outreach plan for the PIFS E-commerce Toolkit Program.
Create and distribute social media posts and brochures explaining toolkit usage.
Training and Support:
- Develop training workshop material for Niue and Tonga.
- Deliver two 2-day training workshops and produce online training resources.
- Develop Standard Operating Procedures for selecting 40 businesses for mentoring and grants.
