Background & Objectives
- Bilateral relations between the EU and Mexico are based on the 2000 Global Agreement and strengthened by the 2008 Strategic Association, focusing on politics, security, the environment, and socioeconomic issues. In 2018, an “agreement in principle” was reached on a modernised EU-Mexico Association Agreement, pending finalisation.
- This action aims to enhance the EU’s global engagement, fostering trust, understanding, and a strong, values-driven image through strategic public and cultural diplomacy.
Activities
- Host dialogues, training, and events with think tanks, policymakers, and young leaders.
- Conduct outreach via visits, workshops, and roadshows on EU policies.
- Promote EU values through campaigns, international day events, and materials.
- Engage in cultural diplomacy with exhibitions, festivals, and Europe Day initiatives.
Results
- 1.1 Contributing to Outcome 1 (or Specific Objective 1): The EU is recognised as a credible reference point and solid partner on priority areas;
- 2.1 Contributing to Outcome 2 (or Specific Objective 2): Cooperation with the Mexican States is increased
- 3.1 Contributing to Outcome 3 (or Specific Objective 3): The knowledge and understanding of the EU’s institutional set-up, policy priorities and values among decision-makers, influencers and multipliers are increased;
