The overall objective of the assignment is to catalyze economic growth in Zimbabwe and contribute to addressing the country’s fragility and building its resilience through supporting the growth of the beef and leather sub-sector value chain, with emphasis to value addition, resulting in the creation of employment, income growth, poverty reduction and achieving inclusive growth. The specific objective of the assignment is to increase the overall competitiveness of the beef and leather value chain in pilot areas primarily through building stakeholders’ production capacities and enabling them access local and export markets.
The project has seven components:
1-Stakeholder platform. This platform will aim to enhance sustained facilitated dialogue at national level, of al stakeholders ( public and private) along the beef and leather value chain
2- Business Environment Streamlining Reform, to facilitate and/or support the Zimbabwe government to review and streamline reforms to existing beef and leather sub-sector policies and regulations fully taking into account the concerns of stakeholders in the value chain
3-Capacity Building of Key Stakeholders ,will be conducted in the targeted pilot area of Matabeleland North, at two levels, (i) In-depth assistance at high return value points in business operations of key stakeholders in the downstream value added activities
