Background & Objectives
- Pacific E-commerce Initiative: Prioritizes E-commerce as part of Pacific Aid-for-Trade Strategy to reduce trade costs and diversify economies.
- Implementation Highlights: Forum Island Countries (FICs) developed national and regional assessments and strategies from 2017 to 2021, with ongoing focus on implementing 54 priority measures since 2022.
- Coordination Efforts: Managed by the Pacific Islands Forum Secretariat (PIFS), efforts include a dedicated E-commerce Portal and Monitoring & Evaluation Framework to support strategy implementation and information dissemination.
Activities
- Review and update curriculum for PIFS E-commerce Disciplines for Policy Makers course.
- Develop and finalize E-commerce Toolkits for Tuvalu, including industry consultations and graphic design.
- Implement standardized training modules and workshops for PIFS E-commerce Toolkits Plus program across FSM, Samoa, Tuvalu, and Vanuatu.
