Background & Objectives
- The “EU-Namibia Cooperation Facility” seeks to advance Namibia’s socio-economic development and reinforce the EU-Namibia partnership. This includes capacity building for government institutions, policy dialogues on shared priorities, promoting trade and investment, supporting the Economic Partnership Agreement, and fostering EU-Namibia cooperation through strategic communication and economic diplomacy.
Activities
- The project focuses on strengthening Namibia’s capacity to implement the MIP 2021-2027 and 11th EDF programmes through capacity building, policy dialogue, and awareness-raising. Key actions include:
- Supporting NPC and OMAs in programme planning, implementation, and reporting.
- Developing procurement tools, financial reporting, and action documents.
- Conducting training needs assessments and capacity-building plans with NIPAM.
- Enhancing policy dialogue and sectoral reforms in areas like education, green growth, and governance.
- Promoting EU-Namibia cooperation through communication and visibility activities, including reporting on achievements.
Results
The action focuses on:
- Building capacity within the National Planning Commission (NPC) and OMAs to effectively implement the MIP 2021-2027 and 11th EDF programmes.
- Enhancing dialogue and policy-making capabilities in key areas like education, green growth, governance, and gender equality, driving policy reforms and stakeholder engagement.
- Raising awareness of EU-Namibia development cooperation among stakeholders and the public.
