Background & Objectives
- OACPS SIDS and coastal countries face unique vulnerabilities like limited resources, poverty, indebtedness, and exposure to climate change impacts, which exacerbate development challenges and strain efforts to achieve Sustainable Development Goals.
- The objective is to support the SAMOA Pathway by improving the sustainable management, use, and conservation of coastal and marine resources, promoting sustainable development and poverty alleviation in these regions
Activities
- Coordination, Monitoring, and Reporting: Establish and manage the PMU, prepare reports, organize forums, participate in international fora, and strengthen partnerships.
- Knowledge Management: Implement a Knowledge Management Strategy, facilitate knowledge sharing, develop knowledge products, maintain online platforms, and link capacity-building activities.
- Communication and Visibility: Develop and implement a Communication and Visibility Strategy, create materials, collaborate with media, monitor activities, and organize events.
Results
Result 1: Strengthened capacities of members and regions of the OACPS to effectively manage coastal and marine biodiversity and enhance resilience to climate change;
Result 2: Regional, national and local efforts are supported to assess, conserve, protect, manage and sustainably use marine and terrestrial biodiversity; and
Result 3: Strengthened coordination and communication to promote the intra-regional aspects of the programme and enhanced collaboration with programme partners for environmental sustainability.
