Belém, Brazil – 11–15 November 2025

AESA will participate in the United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP30) in Belém, Brazil, contributing to two high-level side events that reflect our mission to advance sustainable development, climate-smart agriculture, and transparent carbon finance for Africa’s green transition.

🌍 The Future of Farming: Climate-Smart and Inclusive Models from Italy and Africa

📅 Thursday, 13 November 2025
🕐 11:30–13:00
📍 Italian Pavilion (Blue zone)

Co-organized by BF International and Agriconsulting Europe S.A., with the participation of the Italian Cooperation, African Union Commission, and representatives from Ghana, this session will explore how climate-smart agriculture can strengthen food security, rural development, and environmental stewardship across Africa.

Ottavio Novelli, AESA’s Head of Environment, Climate Change and Renewable Energy Department, will present the Model Farms initiative — an innovative approach that integrates regenerative agriculture, technology-driven resource efficiency, and community resilience. The initiative enhances productivity while restoring ecosystems and empowering local farmers.

The event will also highlight the CLIMSA project (Climate Services and Related Applications) of the African Union, for which AESA provides technical assistance. CLIMSA promotes the co-production and use of weather and climate services to support agricultural decision-making — helping farmers anticipate climate risks, improve planning, and strengthen long-term resilience.

By adapting Italy’s agricultural innovations to African contexts — through precision irrigation, soil carbon monitoring, and cooperative-based training models — the Model Farms and CLIMSA initiatives together demonstrate how data, technology, and inclusivity can drive the transition toward sustainable and climate-resilient agricultural systems.

🔥 Carbon Finance and New Rules on Integrity and Transparency: What’s the Future of Clean Cooking in Africa?

📅 Thursday, 13 November 2025
🕗 20:00
📍 Italian Pavilion (Blue zone)

Organized in collaboration with AVSI and the Directorate General for Development Cooperation (DGCS) of the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MAECI), this session will examine how strong integrity and transparency frameworks can guide carbon finance toward sustainable, high-impact clean cooking projects in Africa.

Ottavio Novelli, AESA’s Climate Change Director, will share AESA’s insights and lessons from its clean cookstove initiatives. The presentation will explore how innovative project design, transparent monitoring, and local engagement can ensure that carbon markets deliver real climate and social benefits.
