Background & Objectives

  • The Sustainable Coastal and Marine Fisheries Program (SCMFP) aims to enhance management and economic performance of Bangladesh’s coastal and marine fisheries.
  • Funded by IDA/WB, it involves a US$ 240 million credit agreement signed in October 2018.
  • Implemented across 75 selected Upazilas in 16 coastal districts, covering 43,291 km2 and benefiting 33.77 million people.
  • The SCMFP’s Project Development Objective (PDO) is to improve the management of coastal and marine fisheries and aquaculture

Activities

  • Provide project controls and ensure effective program delivery through planning, scheduling, and risk management.
  • Ensure compliance with World Bank financing and project agreements, emphasizing citizen engagement and achieving monitoring indicators.
  • Support procurement management, contract administration, and quality assurance for SCMFP activities, including environmental and social safeguards

Results

The PMC services are expected to deliver both tangible and intangible outputs throughout their assistance:

  • Tangible outputs include project management systems, staff training materials, implementation plans, technical specifications, procurement documents, implementation trackers, and training tools.
  • These outputs will encompass detailed documentation, Gantt charts, guidance documents, and Excel templates to track progress and evaluate implementation processes effectively.
