AESA has been awarded the contract for the project 'Best practices on increased level of official controls on certain feed and food of non-animal origin” under the Better Training for Safer Food initiative.

“Better Training for Safer Food' (BTSF) is an initiative of the European Commission’s Health and Consumers Directorate-General (DG SANCO) aimed at organising a European Union training strategy in the areas of food law, feed law, animal health and animal welfare rules, as well as plant health rules.

The specific objectives of the project are:

1. To ensure a uniform approach to official controls and harmonised, fair procedures based on high levels of expertise
2. To share experience and identify best practises at EU level
3. Animals, products of animal and plant origin and all food and feed imported into the EU shall comply with the relevant requirements and conditions recognised by the EU, or at least the equivalents thereof.

Ten “three-day” workshops will be organised in 2 years and will be held in 4 different Member States. 50 participants are supported at each workshop, so that the programme will reach at least 500 participants.
Representatives of EAHC, inspectors of ESA, FVO inspectors and other possible interested stakeholders will be present as well.
