ACP FISH II is the second phase of the project “Strengthening of Fisheries and Biodiversity Management in ACP Countries” (ACP FISH I-Project 7ACP RPR 545).
This project had a goal of assisting researchers and managers in ACP countries in the sustainable management of their living aquatic resources and to increase awareness of the importance to conserve aquatic biodiversity in close cooperation with the European partners. This first phase of the project was focused on training and equipment supply activities to support the installation of the fish base software and the registration and processing of ongoing and past data.
ACP FISH II is the second phase to focus on the broad governance issues in fisheries and on policies, institutions and processes that underpin them.
ACP FISH II has an overall objective to contribute to the sustainable and equitable management of fisheries in ACP regions, thus leading to poverty alleviation and improving food security in ACP countries.
The specific objective of ACP FISH II is to strengthen fishery sectoral policy development and implementation in ACP countries.
The whole purpose of this contract is the management and implementation of the programme by a Coordinating Unit (CU) based in Brussels and Regional Facilitation Units (RFUs) located in ACP Countries.
