Description of the project and Services provided:
The overall objective of this project is to contribute to the sustainable improvement of the competitiveness, added value, and profitability of the African cotton sector, so as to optimize its impact on the income of the producers, thus contributing to the Millennium Goal of reducing poverty in rural areas.
Specifically, the programme aims at accompanying African cotton industry stakeholders, national governments and regional economic communities to develop sustainable tools to support and develop cotton strategies at national/regional/continental levels.
The Technical Assistance Team primary role is that of a process facilitator, undertaking the following activities:

Organize annual meetings of the Steering Committee and periodic meetings of the COS-Coton

Managing the website of the EU-Africa partnership on cotton

Establishment of a user-friendly internet-based format and mechanism for receiving and reviewing, assessing and advising on requests for TA from the ACP countries cotton sector stakeholders

Managing requests from ACP countries for assistance or grant under the cotton facility

Monitor the quality of TA provided

Ensure good coordination and complementarity with both the activities undertaken by the three regional cotton focal points and the two International Organisations implementing partners, in order to enhance the effectiveness of these initiatives, to optimize the resources available, and to increase the presence and credibility of EU/ACP support to the cotton sector

Assisting the contracting authority in managing the 1,500,000 € grant facility
