Description of the project and Services provided:
The overall objective of the Project is to support the efforts of the Government of Egypt to create job opportunities and income generation in rural areas and develop the agricultural sector. Improve the access to finance for agricultural SMEs via the Agriculture Development Program (ADP) by increasing ADP lending schemes as well as their absorption capacity by establishing a credit guarantee scheme: In addition, the Project will address cross-cutting issues such as environmental issues, gender equality, poverty reduction and good governance.
The specific objectives are to:

Support the development of, and provide Technical Assistance for, the improvement of the production process of selected species in the marine aquaculture sector;

Improve business and health practices for selected value chain actors as well as development an Egyptian standard for marine aquaculture;

Support the development of three (3) Marine Aquaculture Development Areas (MADA) through pilot studies in specifically identified areas and in line with the national Integrated Coastal Zone Management (ICZM) strategy;

Improve environmental awareness and practices: Provision of support for the environmental management of selected fry collection centre and provision of support for promoting sustainable and environmentally friendly farming practices;

Improve business practices for the Marine Aquaculture value chain.
the results issued are:

Strengthen and increase the technical efficiency of the private marine hatcheries by improving the quality and size of the produced fingerlings;

Secure fry provision throughout the year for the fish farms;

Reduce illegal fry collection and develop meagre fry production;

Develop the mariculture offshore in thered sea;
-
Develop the shellfish culture along the Bitter lake and Red sea;
-
Strengthen and increase the efficiency of the whole sale and retail actual markets and Improve the quality of fish in the market till can reach the consumer;

Application of internationally accepted standards like GAP;

Create standard that will safeguard high quality of fish;

Improve skills of professional cooperative associations to link members for improving controlling harvesting quantity and prices;

Use the collection mode of the market information, the trace of the distribution of the goods;

Develop Indicators for environmental monitoring;

Develop the Egyptian law of wild fry collection to decrease the negative impact on the environment;
-
Establish a movable collector station of wild fry with a daily capacity of one million fry/day;
-
Strengthen and increase the farmer technical efficiency by introducing BAMP;
-
Improve skills and organization of professional associations to better organize bulk supplies of input;
-
link their members with big retailers (major supermarket chains) and exporters;
-
Provide targeted training to improve farming systems and practices.
