The project aims to promote food and nutritional safety in Senegal by producing white rice locally for the local market.
It aims to develop four thousand net hectares (4,000 ha) of growing area in the Senegal River delta in order to product up to 56,000 tons of paddy rice (irrigated rice growing) per year, signing production contracts with small farmers for a total of 9,000 tons of paddy rice per year, storing 35,000 tons of paddy rice and producing and selling 45,000 tons of white rice on the local market per year.
The specific goals of this mission are to inform and advise the ADB and the EIB in their process of assessing the project. More precisely, AESA East Africa’s main mission will be to conduct an independent counter-evaluation covering the farming, industrial, technical, commercial and financial aspects of the project.
