Description of the project and Services provided:
The regional development objective of the project is to assist the participating governments to build or enhance shared capacity, institutions, knowledge and incentives to jointly tackle illegal wildlife trade and improve management of endangered wildlife by addressing select regional conservation threats.
The main objective of the consultancy service is to assist the Wildlife Circle of BFD to meet the SNOs specified above, especially SNO 1
The three national objectives of the project are in line with national priorities related to biodiversity conservation and Bangladesh’s obligations under the Convention on Biodiversity. All three national objectives are also very much linked to the development objective of the regional project.

To enable the Wildlife Circle to counter the trans-boundary trade of illegal wildlife through capacity building in Protected Area management; crime control; and training, research, awareness, monitoring and evaluation.

To promote Protected Area management and support sharing of knowledge, expertise and experience between the participating countries through the creation of a functioning Virtual Regional Centre of Excellence (VRCE) for strengthening linkage between local and regional/international institutions concerned with wildlife; and collaboration in action research and innovative pilots.

To strengthen the capacity of the Wildlife Circle through creation of a Project Management Unit (PMU) with enhanced national and regional coordination and communication capabilities for effective management and knowledge dissemination.
