NEW AWARD - "CONDUCT OF KNOWLEDGE, ATTITUDE AND PRACTICES (KAP) SURVEYS RELATED TO CLIMATE VARIABILITY AND CHANGE AND DEVELOPMENT OF AWARENESS STRATEGIES"

AESA has recently been awarded with the service contract: CONDUCT OF KNOWLEDGE, ATTITUDE AND PRACTICES (KAP) SURVEYS RELATED TO CLIMATE VARIABILITY AND CHANGE AND DEVELOPMENT OF AWARENESS STRATEGIES

The contract’s general objective is to support the climate compatible development of the CARIFORUM countries to combat the negative impacts of climate change, while simultaneously exploring opportunities presented. It aims to support the Cariforum member states to strengthen their climate resilience through community-level awareness-raising and capacity building.

In particular AESA will assess the status of Knowledge, Attitude & Practices towards climate change and variability in 5 selected countries of the Caribbean Region: Trinidad & Tobago, St. Kitts and Nevis, the Bahamas, Dominican Republic and Cuba.

Using scientific methodologies to run surveys on a representative sample of these populations the consultancy will then draft the Public Education and Outreach Strategies for these 5 countries while developing and implementing a capacity-building plan on Climate Change for selected stakeholders in the 16 Cariforum Member States.

The exercise will be conducted under the supervision and with the collaboration of the Caribbean Community Climate Change Centre (CCCCC) and will last for 7 months in which AESA aims not only to build capacity at the decision-making level but also to increase the awareness of the general populations so that the people can adopt sustainable practices and become more resilient to extreme weather events, climate change induced disasters and natural hazards, in a region that is experiencing the strongest effects of the changing climate.
